What are you willing to do to engage other people?
Last week one of my clients emailed me a message that he received from one of his associates. In the email sent to him the associate had congratulated him on being an
exceptional leader. The reason for the compliment was that he had taken the initiative to email this associate wishing her good luck on a big project she was working on. In his email to me he seems a little surprised at her response, but very pleased. This is the perfect example of how to increase the energy of others. When we take the time to be engaged with others and help them feel engaged we increase enterprise energy.
Energy Performance Tip: The Gallup Management Journal reported that 3 in 10 people state that their jobs are harming them psychologically and physically. They went on to say that a key for creating healthy employees is the degree employees feel engaged in their jobs. In light of the fact that health care is predicted to increase 11% in 2005 it seems advisable that leaders would be searching for any and all ways to develop healthy employees. Helping people be more engaged is one way to impact energy and the bottom line. Conditions that make for a healthy workplace, according to the Gallup survey, is:
- Open communication (input of people is valued)
- Positive relationships with co-workers
